On Friday 18 December candidates came from all over New Zealand to Wellington to compete for the 14+ Dance Scholarship, Elvira Macrae Award and the Alexander Grant Training Award.

14+ Dance Scholarship 2020 – Candidates

In celebration of the RAD’s centenary, the 14+ Dance Scholarship Foundation commissioned NZ choreographer, Sarah Foster-Sproull, to choreograph the Centenary Variation, which was performed for the Scholarship by each candidate and at the Gala, by the finalists.

Sarah Foster-Sproull, acclaimed national and international choreographer was commissioned by the 14+ Dance Scholarship Foundation to choreograph the Centenary Variation.  Eden Mulholland, one of New Zealand and Australia’s most gifted and sought after composer/collaborators for dance, theatre, film and television composed the music.

Candidates were able to download the Centenary Variation video and music to learn and rehearse the variation prior to attending the Scholarship weekend. On Friday 18 December the candidates had a 2 hour coaching workshop with Sarah Foster-Sproull to enhance their interpretation.  Tickets were made available to teachers to attend and watch this workshop:
